Backlash First Cut 19/3/2013

This is the first cut of our short film, Backlash. The film is unfinished as we still need to do some editing and change the music and soundtrack.

  1. A really promising start here. Great use of the flashbacks through post-production work and a nice range of angles in the interrogation scene. The only issue with the opening few shots is the use of the school as setting; the interrogation scene looks great, but at the same time the establishing and final shot of Ryan running out suggest that this is taking place in a school but with no explanation why.
To improve: needs to be longer and this can be easily achieved by extending the development of Ryan's character. He is the protagonist and as a result we need to know more about him from the start, we need to be aligned with him as the good guy, so need some form of reason to side with him and want him to escape.
The Bourne films/Alex Rider are useful examples here of things to consider.

You of course, also need music and sound effects adding. A lot of work necessary here.
